Spend more than Rs 100 on something for yourself, keep the bill, and every qualifying transaction becomes one entry in a twice-monthly government draw. Pay with Khalti and you're entered automatically.
The idea is simple: get into the habit of giving and taking invoices, so real transactions get recorded — and prizes reward the people who do.
One transaction worth more than Rs 100, for your own personal use, to a seller who has a PAN.
Khalti and other registered payment providers enter you automatically. Paid in cash? Enter the bill yourself on the IRD portal.
Winners are picked automatically on the 1st and 16th — one for every day in the period, plus a fortnightly bumper.
You're contacted by phone and email. Bring your documents to the nearest IRD office within 15 days to collect.
Any final consumer buying goods or services in Nepal for their own use can take part. No entry fee, no sign-up, and no cap on how many separate bills you enter.
Not every Khalti payment is eligible. Utilities like electricity, internet and telephone, plus fuel and air tickets, fall inside the excluded list. But everyday retail payments above Rs 100 to a PAN-registered seller qualify — and they're entered for you automatically.
Prizes are announced at a gross figure, then a 25% windfall gain tax is deducted under Section 88Ka of the Income Tax Act, 2058. The daily amount is calculated backwards from a clean Rs 1 lakh payout.
